Portal for northern BC
www.hiway16.com
Hiway 16.com is a large portal site and includes community web pages for the Hazeltons, Smithers, Telkwa, Houston, Granisle and Burns Lake. It is the most popular website in our region and offers numerous free public services such as Club and Sports team pages, free Classified ads and Community events as well as over 940 local photos in the Photoshow gallery, plus much more. Many of the features are generated using Access and SQL databases.

Tourism and recreation
www.bcnorth.ca
BC North.ca is our portal website for tourism and recreation. It covers the same geographical area as Hiway16.com and features reports on all types of sports and recreation such as fishing, hiking, motor touring, etc. Notice the ease of navigation and the way that colour coding on the navigation bar helps keep track of where you are in the site. Databases are used to present large data files such as the trails, lakes and parks lists as well as generating the sponsor list at the bottom of the recreation pages

Drip irrigation
www.dripirrigation.ca
This site has numerous technical articles and a few instruction videos, and is a free public service for gardeners who are planning to install an irrigation system. The site helps generate sales for our e-commerce store and shows how traffic to an online store can be increased by a separate tutorial website. Try out the Wizards that use ASP code to generate an exact parts list. This is an excellent example of how web pages can compute and solve logic problems. This site was built for search engine optimization and ranks #1 in North America on Google and MSN in its category.

News services from across North America keep track of the articles through an RSS feed.

E commerce store based in Smithers BC
Northern Garden Supply
Here is an example of an e-commerce store we have developed. This is our own store for the sale of irrigation parts across North America. Opened in 2003, the store has been very successful and the site address now appears in the top five on Google and MSN. Notice how quick the pages load. The code is very efficient and the site database runs on an SQL 2000 server. The checkout is very smooth and we have many repeat customers - the best indication of an easy-to-use e-commerce website.

Smithers BC
Wall's Home Furniture
This is an example of a small three-page website from Smithers BC that is very open and bright with lots of white space. The photos are changed often so that the layout of each page changes each time the photos are updated. Note the Smart Ad at the bottom of the home page. It will hold over three pages of typewritten text but in this case has far less text. The staff at the store change the text on the Smart Ad from time to time to announce sales or special events.

Mulvaney's
Mulvaney's Pub and Grill
This website is for a popular pub in Burns Lake. At the bottom of the page, the owners can use the Smart Ad to promote specials and menus at any time and as often as needed. The colours of the website match the colours of the building and the interior decor. We can easily add pages to the site as the owners decide what is important information for their clients.

Burns Lake
Sunshine Inn
This website promotes both the Sunshine Inn in Burns Lake and the adjoining Kim's Restaurant. The owner wanted a simple one-page site that provided all the information normally given over the phone. The site is very easy to update. The owner phones or faxes the changes and our staff make the updates normally within 24 hours. We can easily add a reservation page to the site at any time in the future.

Telkwa BC
Cashmere Cat Yarn
We saved this business owner money by hosting this one-page site on our main server. The Smart Ad at the bottom of the page costs very little each month, much lower than the hundreds of dollars it would take to setup the same Smart Ad system on a separate domain hosting account. The only disadvantage to hosting the page on our main server is that the business doesn't have POP email boxes until they upgrade to a domain hosting account, which can be done at any time.

Burns Lake BC
Carnoustie Golf and Country Club
This one-page website in Burns Lake BC has a lot of information but it is presented in such a way that it doesn't appear crowded. Since many viewers will only visit a home page and never will click to a second or third page, we often have only one chance to make a good impression. By arranging information from the breezy introduction at the top of the page to progessively more detail at the bottom, we draw the viewers attention down the page. This business website has some photo thumbnails. Click on the photo to see a larger version.

Smithers BC
Total Floors
This simple one-page website matches the colours and graphics used by the business in other advertising. The double column page breaks up a long sentence length and makes the page easier to read. Short height of paragraphs and graphics help break the page into readable portions. We used photos we took in the showroom as well as some photos from the business suppliers.

Beaver Point Resort
Beaver Point Resort
This three-page website has a Smart Ad at the bottom of the home page. It also has a reservation page to save the business owner time taking down reservation information over the phone. The customer can make a reservation at any time of night or day which is very convenient especially in time zones halfway around the world. More and more motels and resorts rely on online reservations for the bulk of their business.
